5 new Model Y models from Tesla in China
The planned new Model Y should not only be intended for the Chinese market, but also for expansion into Europe, such as Electrek writes. Two different standard-range versions of the Model Y are to be planned, one of which will have a motor produced in China and the other an imported electric motor. An indication that one of the Model Y is intended for export. These speculations have not yet been confirmed.
In China, Tesla surprisingly presented a Standard Range Model Y (RWD) at the beginning of July, which is expected to be delivered from September. In the summer of 2020, Elon Musk had declared that this electric car should not be built for the time being because of its short range of “only” 402 kilometers. This cheaper Model Y is still not available in the USA.
Surprising: Model Y Long Range RWD
In addition to the two standard range versions, Tesla according to the Chinese authorities also bring a new Model Y Long Range RWD, a Model Y Long Range Dual Motor and a new Model Y Performance to the start. According to industry observer Frederic Lambert from Electrek, the Model Y Long Range RWD is the most surprising model on the list because it has not yet appeared in the Chinese online configurator.
