Tesla app out, no access to car
The downside of not using a car key. The Tesla app did not work for a while and therefore owners were not able to access the car.
The Tesla app needs to communicate with servers in order to access your Model S, X, 3 or Y. However, there were problems with the server of the American car manufacturer for several hours. As a result, Tesla owners couldn’t get into their cars. Only if you had the key with you. But that’s of no use if you’re not at home. And so some of the Tesla owners could not go on the road with their car.
The great thing about the Tesla app is that you can leave the key (that is a card at Tesla) at home. But at the same time it shows that it can also be a vulnerable system. So it can’t hurt to use the old-fashioned car key. You don’t want to be stranded somewhere in no man’s land because the app just doesn’t feel like it.
Fortunately for Tesla, the issues were quickly resolved. It is still unclear exactly how big the issue was. Initially, it was an issue that only occurred in North America, but there was also a report from South Korea that the app was not functioning properly. (via Electrek)
