Super Sidekicks: Neo-Geo’s cult football game dribbles and scores on iOS (App Store release)

Attention cult game: Super Sidekicks (App Store Link – 3.99 euros – iPhone/iPad), has just landed on iOS! The cult football game of Neo Geo is available here in its ACA version (slightly smoothed graphics, automatic save, world ranking and configurable virtual pad). Huge success in the arcade and on Neo-Geo when it was launched in 1992, Super Sidekicks combined the qualities of a Kick Off (ultra-fast handling), with top-notch graphics (for the time). The formidable gameplay obviously arcade, the brutal tackles like Olive and Tom and the sometimes almost invincible goalkeeper are all elements that will inevitably come back to the minds of fans of this cult license. Admittedly, the game only offered a dozen teams, but we didn’t really care…

Building on the huge popularity of the game, SNK would release three sequels, Super Sidekicks 2: The World Championship 1994, Super Sidekicks 3: The Next Glory (1995) and Neo Geo Cup ’98: The Road to the Victory (1998), the latter being a copy/paste of Sidekicks 3 with the teams of the 98 World Cup (brilliantly won by the France team).
