Spotify will automatically transcribe podcasts in the future
In the future, podcasts on Spotify will automatically be supplemented with a transcript. This enables easy navigation within the episodes.
Spotify has new features for accessibility announced. This includes the automatic transcription of podcasts and a changed button design. While the changes are aimed primarily at visually impaired people, the transcription feature extends beyond the visual component.
The transcribed podcasts make it possible to read the podcast text either with or without sound, scroll through episodes and click on a paragraph to quickly jump to the right place. The corresponding point in time in the recording is displayed for each paragraph.
The beta version of the feature will be rolled out for selected podcasts within the next few weeks. The aim is to enable automatic transcription for all podcasts from Spotify. Spotify does not give a time frame for this.
Also, Spotify changed the color, text format and size of the buttons to make them more readable. IOS users also have the option of changing the text size in the app.
