Spotify Introduces ‘Just You’ Section and Blend with Playlist for Two
Music service Spotify scores every year with the Wrapped overview, an annual overview with your best listened music. Today Spotify presents a range of new features. Think of the ‘Just You’ section and the new Spotify Blend.
Spotify: Only You
‘Only You’ is the new feature in the Spotify app that you can use from now on. In the Netherlands the function is called ‘Only You’ and summarizes how you listen, instead of what you’re listening, as explained with Spotify Wrapped. With ‘Only You’ you gain insight into your own music taste. By tapping the large map at the top of the screen, you get an overview of your favorite artists and tracks. It will be shown the ‘audio birth chart’. Spotify says the following about this;
- Your audio birth card: Brought to life through three artists you listen to, consisting of: sun sign: The artist you listened to the most in the past six months. moon sign: The artist who shows your emotions. Upcoming sign: The artist you recently discovered.
- your dinner: A personal Spotify mix consisting of the artists you would invite to your dream dinner.
- Your favorite duos: The musical duos you’ve listened to recently that showcase your music taste. For example, who else would play “Greta Van Fleet” right after “Olivia Rodrigo”?
- Your Decade Mixes: How you have progressed musically over the years.
- Your musical day: Music and podcasts you listen to early in the morning or late at night.
- Your genre mixes: How your music taste and podcast genres set you apart.
Under this map you have access to different playlists that are tailored to the user. Think of special mixes that are composed based on your listening behaviour. There are also decade mixes, genre mixes and ‘your dinner’ mix with artists that you would invite to your dream dinner.
Spotify Blend
Also new with the announcement is Spotify Blend. This functionality can also be found on the ‘Only You’ hub. You make a playlist with it for the two of you. This can be any Spotify user; so not only your partner, but also your colleague, boyfriend or girlfriend, or perhaps your mother. According to Spotify, this way you should be able to experience how your music tastes come together. Based on the listening behavior of both users, the list is supplemented daily with new music.
You can now find the new functions directly in the Spotify application.
