Android 13 gets a useful improvement for Spotify’s users. Google and the music service have announced a new feature that makes it easier to switch between audio devices when listening to music. In the future it should be possible to connect to other devices that have Spotify Connect from the indicator in the corner of the media player. So you don’t have to open the Spotify app completely and switch to another device there.

Google says it wants to roll out even more improvements. This is about dynamic notifications that users see. It includes suggestions for other devices you can connect to wherever you are at that moment. For example, you can switch to headphones, your car or another device via the notification. This addition in the form of notifications is also coming to YouTube Music. WiFi, Bluetooth and ultra-wideband (UWB) are used to see which devices are nearby for playing music; the notifications are adjusted accordingly. We already know this kind of notification from Google Cast, where the suggestion appears to cast to a nearby Google Cast device.

Although the functionality has been announced, it may take some time before the integration of Spotify Connect is rolled out.
