Sony plans to renew its series of compact Xperia Compact models
Fans of the Japanese brand Sony they certainly still remember her series of compact smartphones Xperia Compact, whose last member was introduced in 2018. Portal PhoneArena came up with information that the manufacturer is planning its new generation.
The novelty is to be a reaction to the Apple iPhone 12 mini
The source of the portal is the well-known leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, who recently had excellent information not only about last year’s Sony models, but also the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. Leaker on social network Voice has reportedly released official pictures of the new Xperia Compact model, which should be a response to last year ‘s compact iPhone iPhone 12 mini with pleasant dimensions of 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.4 millimeters and flagship equipment.
But the upcoming novelty from Sony should be bigger. Its reported dimensions of 140 x 68.9 x 8.9 millimeters are still larger than the dimensions of the Apple iPhone 12 mini. The design of the smartphone should be identical to last year’s Sony models. This means a straight glass body with slightly rounded sides. New is the cut-out for the selfie camera in the 5.5-inch display, which Sony has so far avoided with its smartphones. The impression from the front is only slightly spoiled by the lower wide edge.
The parameters of the novelty will belong to the middle class
The fingerprint sensor will not be integrated in the display, but on the right side along with the volume and power buttons. The bottom is dominated by a USB-C connector and the top has a 3.5 mm jack. Stereo speakers are also available. On the back, in addition to the manufacturer’s logo, there is also a camera with two sensors arranged in a vertical position in the upper left corner. The main sensor has 13 megapixels. The secondary sensor did not specify a leaker.
While the Apple iPhone 12 mini is powered by the most powerful chipset on the market, the Apple A14 Bionic, the new generation of the Sony Xperia Compact smartphone will only offer a mid-range chipset. Specifically, it should be about Qualcomm Snapdragon 775G, which should be the successor to the popular Snapdragon 765G. It will be available to manufacturers at the turn of February and March, so the introduction of the new Sony Xperia Compact model can be expected in March at the earliest.
