“Sony comes with largest smartphone camera sensor ever for Xiaomi 12 Ultra”
A new leak reveals that Sony is coming with the largest smartphone camera sensor ever in a Sony phone. It would be a 50MP 1/1.1-inch sensor, named Sony Exmor IMX800. It is expected to be made for the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra phone.
Camera sensor
Smartphone cameras with a lot of megapixels can do a lot, but whether that really comes out has everything to do with both the software and the sensors that come with the cameras. That is why there is great enthusiasm about this leak. GSM Arena writes that this is probably the largest sensor that Sony ever made for a smartphone. It’s even bigger than the Samsung GN2. It is also 50 megapixels, but is slightly smaller at 1/1.12 inches.
People are therefore curious about how the performance of this sensor will be, because bigger also means that more light can be let in and that makes for better photos. Especially if you have to do it with low light in the room, a larger sensor will ultimately provide less noise in the photos. Nevertheless, the final quality of photos is and remains an interaction between the type of lens, the quality of the lens and the software, in addition to, of course, the skills of the photographer himself.

We can probably see that performance in the upcoming Xiaomi phone. Xiaomi 12 Ultra seems to be the smartphone that has the scoop. That means Xiaomi is making a supplier switch as last year’s Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra has that Samsung GN2. With that phone, that large sensor was also one of the biggest gimmicks.
