Sharing links in stories is now available to everyone
Until now, only verified accounts or users with more than 10,000 followers have had the opportunity to share links via Instagram Stories. However, Instagram now adds a new type of sticker to the application that will make link sharing available to all users, regardless of their popularity. The platform started testing the novelty in June and at the end of August it decided to replace the old way of sharing links in stories. The GSMAren portal informed about the change.
From now on, you can’t get to the links in the stories by dragging up, but by clicking on the link sticker. In addition, this method will allow other users to respond to the story without previously being able to interact with the stories that contained the links. Instagram also stated that it plans to incorporate into the application the possibility to better customize the appearance of the stickers.
How to add a link to Instagram Stories using the new sticker?
- Add a photo or video to your story as usual.
- Click the Stickers icon in the top right
- Tap the “Link” sticker, add the destination URL, and tap “Done.”
- Place a new sticker anywhere in your story just like any other sticker. When you click on it, its other colors will be displayed.
In an effort to protect users from malicious links, Instagram has restricted the novelty to brand new accounts and accounts that allow users to repeatedly share content that violates platform rules, such as misinformation or hate speech.
