Set daylight saving time automatically or manually on Android (step-by-step plan)
Next night, in the night from Saturday to Sunday, the clocks will go forward one hour. That means an hour less sleep. In addition to the clocks in the house, daylight saving time must also be set on your Android smartphone and tablet. This normally happens automatically, but if not, DroidApp will help you set daylight saving time on your Android device.
Android: Set Daylight Saving Time
Every year around this time it is the time that the clocks have to be turned back. With winter the clocks go back one hour, with summer time the clocks go forward one hour. If you’re not sure whether this is automatic on your device, DroidApp will help you set daylight saving time. Does my phone automatically switch to daylight saving time? In many cases the answer to this question is ‘yes’. You can check this by following the steps below.
- Go to Institutions
- Select the option Date and time
Sometimes the option is a bit more hidden. To do this, you can go to Settings > System Settings > Date & Time.
Is the ‘automatic date and time’ option checked? Then you can assume that the automatic time zone is adopted and that your phone is set correctly. If not enabled, check that now.
Check alarm clock
Do you want to make sure that everything is going well with summer time? Then you can check that in a convenient way. To do this, go to the alarm clock/alarm clock app and set a time for tomorrow morning. You will then see in how many hours and minutes the alarm will go off. In this way you can calculate whether the setting of daylight saving time is going well.
In addition to your smartphone and tablet, don’t forget to also set your clock radio, (digital) camera and the clocks on the wall to summer time! Winter time will start again on Saturday 30 October 2022.
We have an overview for you below, for when you have to change the clock next time;
- DST 2022: March 27
- DST 2023: March 26
- DST 2024: March 31
- DST 2025: March 30
- DST 2026: March 29
There is a chance that summer and winter time will be abolished in the future. There is then still one type of time held. In February last year it was announced that the plan to abolish daylight saving time and winter time will be shelved for the time being. For the time being, we must therefore continue to set the clocks.
