Samsung shares information about security update August: 31 own patches
Samsung has provided more information about the August security update. The latest security patch doesn’t just bring Google’s patches to Galaxy devices; there are also Samsung’s own patches. That’s 31 in total.
Samsung about August update
Even before the official start of August, Samsung was already busy rolling out the latest security update from August. This update has already been rolled out for the Galaxy S22 series. The S21 and S20 series have already received this security patch in various countries, although we have to wait for it in the Netherlands. Like every month, the security update consists of both the patches from Google and from the manufacturer; Samsung in this case.
Samsung says that with its own part of the update, a total of 31 vulnerabilities will be addressed. We see that these relate to different parts of Samsung; such as the proprietary apps and One UI. Three of the patches have to do with the Bluetooth connection. We also see fixes for Samsung DeX and a weak spot in the VPN connection in Knox has been addressed with the August update. We also see adjustments for Smart View, the Phone app and some other parts.
When Samsung rolls out the August update for your smartphone, you will receive a notification on your smartphone. Are you getting the update? Then let us know, together with a screenshot, via an email.
