Samsung introduces the Galaxy S21, S21 + and S21 Ultra
Under the title “Welcome to the Everyday Epic”, Samsung has just presented three new smartphones from the Galaxy range as part of an online event. The new flagships bring small changes to the design, new processors and 5G through the complete line-up. When it comes to case colors, the manufacturer relies on matte, muted colors.
Once again, Samsung is showing three models at once, the differences between the models can essentially be determined by the memory equipment and the size of the display.
“For us, the smartphone is the hub of digital communication. It connects us professionally and privately and creates closeness in times of physical distance, says Mario Winter, Senior Director Marketing IT & Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics GmbH. Every second in Germany, around 20,000 social interactions are made by Samsung smartphones.1 A number that we are proud of, but which also motivates us to build smartphones that are tailored to the individual needs of the users. With the new flagships, we have therefore developed a smartphone series that is primarily intended to meet the various demands of our customers. “

Samsung Galaxy S21
The Galaxy S21 uses a 6.2-inch, almost frameless Dynamic AMOLED display, the refresh rate is dynamically adjusted between 60 and 120 Hz. Inside, a Samsung Exynos 2100 octa-core processor is used in-house using 5nm manufacturing technology. The main memory is eight gigabytes, the internal memory between 128 and 256 gigabytes. There is space for two SIM cards, but unfortunately not for an SD card. Samsung installed three cameras – a twelve megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, a twelve megapixel wide angle lens and a 64 megapixel telephoto. The maximum video resolution is 8K, the front camera has a resolution of ten megapixels. The dimensions are 151.7 x 71.2 x 7.9 mm and the weight 169 grams.
Samsung Galaxy S21 +
Can it be a little bigger? The Galaxy S21 + only has a larger 6.7 inch display. The constant resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels is a bit annoying, so the PPI drops from 421 to 394 compared to the smaller model. In terms of dimensions, we come to 161.5 x 75.6 x 7.8 mm, the weight increases by 31 grams to 200.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra
It gets a little bigger with the Ultra model, here Samsung has installed a 6.8 inch display. The resolution increases to an impressive 3,200 x 1,440 pixels, so the PPI is 515. The processor remains the same, but the RAM can be up to 16 GB. The internal memory can be configured up to 512 GB. The dimensions are 165.1 x 75.6 x 8.9 mm, the weight increases to 227 grams.
For the first time, Samsung’s S-Pen is also compatible with a smartphone from the Galaxy series, but it cannot be sunk into the case.
Smarter camera
All models bring new functions in the area of the camera. The image processor uses an AI-based 3D analysis to clearly distinguish the subject from the background. This makes new filters such as virtual studio lighting possible. The AI-based single take function makes it possible to take still images from video material with a resolution of up to 8K.
Prices and availability
All new models can be purchased from today – until January 28th – at Samsung pre-ordered will. Those who pre-order will receive the Galaxy Buds Live, also presented today, and the Galaxy SmartTag free of charge. Anyone who registers with Samsung Pay by February 15 will receive another 50 euro voucher for accessories. Sales and delivery will start on January 29th.
The Galaxy 21 is available in the colors Phantom Gray, Phantom White, Phantom Pink and Phantom Violet from 849 euros, the slightly larger Galaxy S21 + has to do without the pink color variant and starts at 1049 euros. The Ultra model comes in just two colors – silver and black – and costs at least 1,249 euros.
