Samsung Health ends support for older Androids

Samsung Health is one of the most used and popular applications of its kind. The application gained its status mainly due to the successful user environment, the number of functions and, last but not least, the number of smart devices that can be paired with a smartphone thanks to it.

Whether it’s the Galaxy Watch series of smart watches, which, by the way, recently got the opportunity to measure blood ECG or smart bracelets from Samsung, smart scales and the like, there are a large number of devices capable of connecting via Samsung Health.

Samsung Health does not receive updates on older Androids

Now comes the bad news, especially for owners of older smartphones with the Android operating system. Software support for the application will be discontinued for these models. Specifically, these are devices with Android 7.9 Nougat and older, Sammobile said. You may have said to yourself now that no one has such old models anymore, but the opposite is true. There will also be users who like their older smartphone and will never see the update again. The truth is, there aren’t many.

Samsung has confirmed that support will end on March 22, 2021. This does not mean that users with older smartphones will not be able to use the application, but will no longer receive any updates.

This in itself will not affect the functionality of the application, but it will give new possibilities to hackers, as an out-of-date application is significantly more vulnerable to hacker attacks. Therefore, we still recommend that you always have all devices and applications in them updated to the latest possible version. For smartphone users running Android 8 and above, nothing will change.

The best alternatives to Samsung Health are Health from Huawei, applications from Fitbit and Garmin, or Mi Fit from Xiaomi.
