Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + receive the February security update
We have the beginning of a new month here, which marks the arrival of a new security patch for Android. The Galaxy S9 and S9 + models from Samsung are now also receiving the February security update, informs the Sammobile portal.
Updates are labeled G960FXXSEFUA1 or G965FXXSEFUA1 Depending on the device and available, they should be available worldwide in the coming days. Therefore, if you have not yet received an update notification, you can check its availability in Settings in the Software Update section.
Both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + models have had two years of fame, but security updates will receive another year each month. After this time, they are expected to receive them only on a quarterly basis.
However, these models will no longer receive an update that will bring new features. The update to One UI 2.5 was probably their last.
Samsung has no competition for updates
Samsung has focused significantly on updating its devices in recent months, and other companies are not catching up with it. The second place was taken by the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi, who has managed to update several devices in recent weeks. Specifically, these were the Mi 10 T and Mi 10T Pro, Redmi Note 9S, Redmi 8 and 8A models.
James Bond’s Nokia 8.3 5G phone, the company’s first smartphone to receive the latest version of Android, also received an update to Android 11 this week. While Nokia was once one of the first companies to upgrade its devices, customers will now have to wait a little longer.
Nokia is not the only manufacturer that is in no hurry with Android 11. The recently updated Motorola moto g pro was the first smartphone from Motorola to receive the latest version of Android.
