Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy A8 get security update January 2021
A new update is being rolled out for two Samsung devices. The update concerns the January patch that brings several dozen improvements to the Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy A8.
January Patch for S20 FE and A8
We saw the new Galaxy S21 series last week. Despite that, Samsung’s software department is not sitting still. The manufacturer has now prepared a new update for two of its models. Jan informs us that the update is available for the Samsung Galaxy A8. This update is also available for the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE.
With the Samsung Galaxy A8, this update has a size of approximately 258MB. A major update, where as far as it seems only the new security update of January 2021 is included. In addition, manufacturers usually take this opportunity to also implement bug fixes and some optimizations. The Galaxy A8 still runs on Android 10. An update to Android 11 is not included for the device released in 2018.
The update is also ready for the Galaxy S20 FE, Marianne says. With 174MB it is a bit smaller in size, but still quite large. We do not see any new functions in the changelog, but improvements have undoubtedly been made here as well. The Galaxy S20 FE was recently offered the update to Android 11.
When the update is available for your device, you will receive a notification on your smartphone.
