Sales of wearable accessories for smartphones increased by almost 10 percent
Wearable manufacturers have faced several problems this year, such as the global shortage of chips, but the segment continues to grow rapidly. Sales increased by almost 10% compared to last year, informs the GSMArena portal.
Approximately 138.4 million units were sold in the last quarter, with the headphone market dominating with 26.5% growth and a total share of 64.7%. Smart watches and bracelets accounted for only 34.7% of total sales.
Apple still holds the lead in selling accessories
As for the manufacturers, Apple holds first place despite having to postpone the release of the Apple Watch Series 7. Sales of AirPods and Beats headphones helped it maintain its strong market position. Samsung came in second this quarter thanks to the popularity of the Galaxy Watch4 series.
Xiaomi fell to third place with a year-on-year decline of almost 24%, probably due to the fact that the Chinese manufacturer is focused on the production and sale of smart bracelets. According to International Data Corporation, which created the report, demand is slowly shifting from smart watch bracelets. They offer several features and are starting to get closer to bracelets.
Surprisingly, the Indian brand Imagine Marketing also got into the top five, probably thanks to strong marketing and the offer of affordable equipment.
