Remaster Rise of the Triad vyjde letos » Vortex
After a long pause, we finally learned something new about Rise of the Triad Remastered, an improved version of the famous FPS from 1995. Its upgrade was announced by the authors at Realms Deep 2020. Publishing rights now travel from 3D Realms to the renewed Apogee Entertainment and the team promises that the title will be released later this year on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switchi. Not a word was said about the new consoles.
Remaster after remake
Originally, the two companies were supposed to release the game together, but they agreed that Apogee itself would take care of the finish. The team continues to work, promising support for widescreen displays, mouselook or redesigned multiplayer. But the game still retains the character and charm of the original. Unfortunately, we do not yet know the exact release date.
The original game has been remembered by fans thanks to five different playable characters, complex maps and various weapons, the developers remind. Already in 2013, the title Rise of the Triad received a remake of the same name from the Slipgate Ironworks studio, formerly known as Interceptor Entertainment. However, the modernized project on Unreal Engine 3 did not make a big hole in the world.
Now, therefore, the Apogee have preferred to focus on less invasive improvements to the original in an effort to preserve the digital heritage of the past. The studio assures fans that the brand is in good hands and development continues as it should. The core of the game does not change.
If you want to ask what we can see from the game, I answer that it’s the same “nothing” as in September 2020. Outside there is not even a minute clip in which one of the authors plays the game on Switch. Originally, the title was due to arrive early last year. But what about the fans, they had to wait for the remake. As already mentioned, it was published in 2013, but it was announced four years earlier.
The game was originally intended as a sequel to Wolfenstein 3D
The original game was released in 1995 and a port for iOS appeared 10 years ago. In 2013, a remake of the same name was released by the Interceptor Entertainment studio. It is interesting that the remaster arrives on the market only after the release of a completely reworked version. The original had five unique characters and was originally intended to succeed Wolfenstein 3D. The game is powered by an improved engine from this classic from id Software. In the end, however, the game had to get rid of most of the links to Wolfenstein 3D. One of its main authors, Scott Miller, believed that id Software decided not to distract the title from their own game, Doom. In the end, after reworking, Rise of the Triad turned out to be a separate game, which came with several technological elements that were not possible in Wolf.
