podcast services Spotify and Google Podcasts most popular among our readers

The Minimalist Podcast, the Tech in Five podcast, the University of the Netherlands podcast: there are tens of thousands of podcasts in the world. But, how do you listen to it? Our AW Poll shows that Spotify and Google Podcasts are mainly chosen, if podcasts are listened at all.

Listening Podcasts

28 percent say they listen to podcasts on Spotify. The Scandinavian streaming brand will be happy with that, as it has invested millions to make its podcast section big. In addition, Google Podcasts is also very popular among Androidworld readers: 27 percent say they go there for their daily, weekly or monthly portion of podcast fun. YouTube and Apple Podcasts are only sparsely used at 4 percent and 2 percent.

There are also podcast streamers that we don’t listen to at all, such as PlayerFM, Deezer, Castbox and iHeartRadio: they all received 0 votes. However, quite a few people listen to Pocket Casts (10 percent) and there is also a part that opts for either TuneIn Radio (1 percent) or Podcast Addict (3 percent). 7 percent use a completely different app for it. Fluppe for example, who chooses: “Podimo”.

Thor68 also tried it, but went back to Spotify anyway: “Just via Spotify, tried that podimo app but don’t think that app works well.” You can of course also listen to podcasts in the app of certain makers or radio stations. bernardo_van_olst uses this method: “In NPO Radio 1 app, NPO Luister app, BNR Nieuwsradio app, nrc Audio.”

Not everyone listens to podcasts. For example, 19 percent say they don’t listen to podcasts. There could be many reasons for this: because it is more distracting during work than music, for example, because they don’t like the subjects or because they prefer to listen to music anyway when they pop their earplugs in again. Marvado is one of those people: “I tried it once, but I couldn’t care less. Are you having fun working and then you have to concentrate again on what someone is saying. I also find it useless while driving. For my studies I occasionally have to listen to something, that is done via a website and I saw that it is also offered via all kinds of other listening services. So just turn on some music and listen to things new and old.”

Well, you can also work very well on the sweet-voiced voice of our own Dim! Then you hit the nail right on the head! 😉 Thanks for joining everyone, see you next week!
