PlayStation owners are gifted by EA
The release of Battlefield 2042 was anything but smooth. However, EA did not give up and continued to work on the shooter. PlayStation owners will soon even be able to try out completely free of charge whether the game has really gotten better.
PlayStation only: Play Battlefield 2042 for free
After the release at the end of 2021, Battlefield 2042 has now been on the market for about a year. At first it rained down due to technical problems, weaknesses in graphics, performance and playful criticism and the players stayed away. This became particularly clear in November 2021 on Steam. The game received there only 25 percent positive reviews and thus secured a place among the 125 poorly rated Steam titles. In our test, too, the game only achieved a rating of 6.9.
Publisher EA wants to do something about the bad ratings and sobering number of players: you can play Battlefield 2042 from December 16th Play for free until December 23, 2022to get a new idea of the first-person shooter – but only as a PlayStation owner (Source: EA).
Developer DICE has been working on the game over the past few months and has enhanced it with numerous updates. After seeing a low of 2,738 players on Steam in May 2022, Battlefield 2042 has seen EA peak over the last 24 hours at around 36,600 players looking forward (source: SteamDB). This should now be noticed by as many players as possible with the offer.
EA shows what has happened in the game in this trailer:
New seasons are coming soon
On November 22, Battlefield 2042 started Season 3. That wasn’t just the starting signal for inclusion on the subscription services Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play, but also the announcement of a revised class system to be introduced with Season 4 in early 2023. A new Battle Pass, new hardware and a new map await you here (source: EA).
Season 5 was also recently confirmed and first details are now known: “In Season 5 you will see how we can borrow from previous games and how they can appear in the world of 2042. The new map in Season 5 will be a forgotten battlefield last fought in Battlefield 4,” according to DICE.
