There are more and more rumors about the smartwatch from Google. But what are the (appearance) differences between the leaked Google Pixel Watch and the Apple Watch? iPhoned tells you!

Google Pixel Watch: differences with the Apple Watch

Several photos have recently been leaked showing Google’s new smartwatch (the Pixel Watch). We can’t say much about how it works yet, because the source who leaked the photos couldn’t get the device to work. It is probably still a prototype for internal use on which no software has yet been installed. However, it is possible to take a closer look at the external differences.

Google Pixel Watch: Appearance

The first thing you notice is the shape of the Pixel Watch. Unlike the rectangular shape of the Apple Watch, Google’s smartwatch has a round shape. This is more in line with classic watches. Smartwatches such as the Galaxy Watch S4 from Samsung also have this round shape.

Just like the Apple Watch, the Google Pixel Watch is a bit on the thick side. Probably because of the sensors in the housing. We think your Pixel Watch should be charged the same way you would with Apple, by placing it on a charger. Unfortunately, it is not yet known what this charger will look like.

You also see a rotary button on the side, which is called a Digital Crown (or digital crown) on the Apple Watch. In addition, there is a single button, just like with the smartwatch from Apple. Not sure if the Google Pixel Watch might even have more buttons.

There are also some similarities with the straps. The closure does look a bit like the silicone Apple straps. In addition, Google has also made a special connection for the straps. This means that, as with the Apple Watch, you cannot use standard bands unless an adapter becomes available.

Leaked in the same way as the iPhone 4

Whether the Google Pixel Watch will ultimately look like this remains to be seen. We also don’t know whether you might be able to use the Pixel Watch with your iPhone in the future. In the past, for example, the Samsung Gear S3 could be used with Apple devices.

The prototype of the watch was found in a restaurant in America. This has already happened with prototypes from Apple. Apple employee Gray Powell had accidentally left his prototype iPhone 4 in a restaurant years ago. Although this device was disguised as an iPhone 3GS, it soon became apparent that it was a new iPhone from Apple.
