Pedelec relies on amazing drive technology
There is obviously still room for innovation in the e-bike market. One that is now taking a new approach to propulsion has already raised over 50,000 euros from a crowdfunding platform.
OYO Bike: This pedelec has a hydraulic drive
An e-bike that has never been seen or “felt” like this before, promise the makers of the OYO bike at the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo. The pedelec uses hydraulics for this new and “gentle” driving experience and thus manages without a chain.
The OYO also eliminates the need to manually engage gears: With the help of sensors that measure speed and effort, the bike itself decides which gear is the most suitable. When you stop, the e-bike automatically puts it back into first gear. You shouldn’t notice transitions when shifting up.
These e-bikes are particularly popular in Germany:
Now the bad news: The e-bike, which is by far not the most unusual on the market, should not be ready for the market until June 2022. Anyone who dares to strike straight away will have to invest the equivalent of around 1,650 euros. The early bird package is still available 49 times at the moment. Later you will have to pay at least 1,900 euros – and even then, according to the developers, you save a good third of the final market price.
Is often referred to as the “iPhone among e-bikes” – the Cowboy 3:
Currently only a prototype
On the page for their campaign, the team behind the OYO Bike points out that the e-bike is currently still in the prototype phase. So there is a working copy, but not a store-ready product.
The team around Ziv Brosh can, however, look positively into the future: the crowdfunding campaign has already exceeded the originally targeted around 35,000 euros. Currently, almost 51,000 euros have been raised for the e-bike, which can accelerate to up to 25 km / h with a 250 W motor and drive up to 80 km thanks to the 400 Wh battery.
