Patreon wants his own video platform, he wants to break away from YouTube
A separate project, completely independent of other solutions of other companies. The well-known Patreon plans to offer his own video after the podcast.
Without YouTube
Today, most of the creators who draw support from their Patreon fans are addicted to videos. It is this creation that it is most tempting to support various groups of artists and Youtubers, just through the regular sending of the selected amount. Patreon is built on this simple foundation. I like a certain work, I want to see it regularly and at the same time support it. And so you’re over Patreon, I will set the required monthly payment. Patreon gradually realized that creating your own podcast and video solution and combining them under your own name was not a bad idea. Now there is an addiction, especially to YouTube, and it wants to get rid of it.
Most of the creators who draw financial resources from fans on Patreon have their work on YouTube. Some time ago, Patreon managed to launch a podcast platform, and now a video should follow. The strategy is to offer one package for developing your own business. In this way, each creator chooses the platform on which he wants to engage and through Patreon he can reach out and get money from the fans. Currently, there is a strong focus on Vimeo and YouTube, where many creators refer and ask for support through Patreon. The new idea is to combine your own podcast and your own video space with supporters in one place. This would mean that the partnership with Vimeo would be dampened at the expense of its own network.
The whole concept should manifest itself in predesign of the video platform already this year. In particular, the aim is to break away from the dominance of services other than YouTube. He controls the video market and Patreon will have a very difficult task. Even if the creators can be persuaded to use the Patreon solution, it remains to attract followers. They decide on the success, the number of views and, ultimately, the collection of the amount they send.
Patreon, it looks like, doesn’t want to go into the project alone. It needs partners to build a platform that offers video space. The head of the Patreon indicated this in an interview with The Verge. In addition, he has his own podcast, in which he presents his visions to, for example, the co-founder of the social network Reddit (Alexis Ohanian). The exact moment of launch is not yet indicated, but if this should really happen in 2021, there is not much time left.
