Only Pro models iPhone 14 get better screen design
Apple has plans to finally get rid of that nasty notch. At least, if you like the Pro models of the iPhone 14.
The design of the current iPhone has been around for a good number of years. Okay, since the iPhone 12, the round shapes have given way to angular shapes, but a screen with few bezels and a large notch at the top has been around since the iPhone X in 2017. In 2022 we can expect the iPhone 14 and it will finally be different.
Pill
Apple has reduced the notch for the iPhone 13, but has not yet removed it. The iPhone cannot easily get a ‘hole-punch’ camera like competitors, because the notch also contains the necessary sensors for FaceID. There is a different design on the table for the iPhone 14. It is a kind of ‘pill’ that floats as a tiny black bar at the top of your screen. Those are the FaceID sensors. Next to this pill is a hole-punch camera which is of course the selfie camera. Apple can finally get rid of that nasty notch and the iPhone will finally make extra good use of a design where the screen is the entire size of the phone.
Pro . only
There is a ‘but’. In terms of lineup, the iPhone 14 will be the same as the 13 and 12: four versions, of which a small (iPhone 13 Mini) and large (iPhone 13), but also a small and large Pro (13 Pro and 13 Pro Max). Ross Young of DSCC said the expectation is now that the non-Pro models will just keep their notch and the design with the pill will be reserved for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Sad, but also understandable.
As always, we can expect the iPhone 14 series at the end of the year and information is slowly trickling in about how and what. For example, the phone would have a back where the cameras are no longer in an island, a bit like the new Samsung S22 also has.
