‘On vacation, my friends and I were not at all on the same page’
Super fun, such a holiday with friends, but when you find out at your destination that your idea of holiday is completely different, you sometimes have to make your own plan.
Jo (38): “After two days in the department store and out of the store, I was done with it. The problem was that before we left for New York, I knew only one of my five fellow travelers. I just assumed we were all on the same page. It wasn’t.
shopping
The five were only interested in shopping and hip eateries. I also like the latter, especially in New York, but after two days I had had enough of that shopping bump. We went to Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and of course Gap and Abercrombie for the kids.

Alone on the road
On day three I wanted to go to a museum: the Guggenheim or the MoMa. But no, not the ladies. Then I went alone and met the others in a cafe around drinks time. That’s how I had fun and they had fun, I thought.
Only it didn’t really go well in the group, I noticed at the end of the day. It wasn’t a big deal, but I’m not on their guest list for a next trip, because the last day I went out alone again. Which by the way really pleased me. Next time I will go alone or with really good friends.”
