Oh no! There is a limit to the number of lockscreens in iOS 16
There is a limit to the number of personal lockscreens you can create in iOS 16. But don’t worry, the limit is higher than you think.
Read on after the ad.
Lockscreens in iOS 16 are not infinite
Making your own lockscreen is one of the best features of iOS 16. With iOS 16 you can create multiple sets with different backgrounds, fonts and even widgets. And of course you want to keep the most beautiful lockscreens.
But did you know that there is a limit to the number of lockscreens you can keep? Apple has set a maximum number of 200 home screens.
The customizable lockscreens have limitations
An Apple fan on Reddit discovered the limit of 200 custom lockscreens per iPhone in iOS 16. Then when you want to create a new lockscreen, you have no choice but to delete one of your coveted lock screens.
Browsing through all 200 different lockscreens isn’t that useful at all. you have to swipe to each new screen. That’s why it’s not smart to keep so many screens.
However, this is not the only limitation of the new lockscreens in iOS 16. For example, you can not freely place the clock or widgets on the screen and the two bottom buttons (which quickly turn on your camera and the flashlight) are not customizable.
Still, the new lock screen is definitely a major upgrade for your iPhone. Incidentally, in iOS 16.1, adjusting your lockscreen will be just a little more convenient via the Settings app.
You can show this on 200 different lockscreens
We admit it: no one is actually going to hit the 200 lock screen limit in iOS 16. Still, we try to imagine what you can display on your lock screen to make the most of these 200 options.
First, it is possible to set the flags of all ‘United Nations-recognized’ countries (195) as a lockscreen. Via ‘Focus’ your iPhone will automatically know which country you are in and then jump to the correct flag.
Other options are: all first-generation Pokémon (151) or Mark Rutte’s vote of no-confidence (104). All of the ‘Success Extended Campaigns’ of Soldier of Orange and the number of Sims expansion packs will probably fit right in, too.
