Obi-Wan Kenobi: the series “will satisfy Star Wars fans”, assures Ewan McGregor

Now that the series The Boba Fett Book is over, Star Wars fans are focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi which release date is May 25 on Disney+. Ewan McGregor, who plays the Jedi master, gave an interview to Forbes to talk about this project.

Satisfy fans who discovered the films when they were young

Ewan McGregor notes that the series is interesting in view of the three films (episodes I, II and III) in which he played Obi-Wan Kenobi. The reason is the audience.

I mean it’s kind of interesting, after the experience of doing the first three movies and kind of living their reception around the world, which wasn’t always stellar, I have to say. And then now, meeting the generation that we made these films for, the kids at the time — and now, people in their late teens or early twenties, these people who were kids for whom we made these films, they loved them. For them, it’s their Star Wars movies, you know? For us, it was the original movies of the 70s, but for them, our movies are their Star Wars. So to step back into his shoes now and do a series, an entire Obi-Wan Kenobi series for these fans, makes me really happy.

Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, the return

The actor also praised the work of director Deborah Chow. He notes that she directed all episodes of the series “and she is very good. She directed a few episodes of The Mandalorian and she’s a very good director. She really knows the world of Star Wars, way more than I do.”said Ewan McGregor with a laugh.

Another comment touched on Hayden Christensen, who will return as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. “I think it’s no secret that Hayden Christensen is coming back and we had the opportunity to do scenes together as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, and it was fantastic to work with him again.”.

Ewan McGregor assures him: Star Wars fans will love the series. “I’m not going to reveal anything more about the plot, only I think it will really satisfy Star Wars fans. I always thought there was a story between Episode III, where I ended up playing Obi-Wan in the movies, and Episode IV, where Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi.
