NS is going to give a discount for quiet trains via the NS app: this is how it works
The Dutch Railways is starting an experiment in which you can save considerably on the travel costs you incur by train.
Cheaper by train?
Traveling by train outside rush hour should become much cheaper. Whether this persuades people to opt for the train (more often) is now being tested with a pilot. According to the NS, the aim of the trial is to fill empty trains and prevent crowded trains. The discount can be up to 60 percent.
The trial is being held on the Eindhoven – The Hague Central route, whereby the intermediate stations also count (including Rotterdam Central, Delft, Breda and Tilburg. You can request an NS Voordeel e-mail via the NS app or website at the latest one day in advance. purchase a ticket, where you can see exactly what the discount is.The quieter it is on the train, the higher the discount.
The NS reports that the trial will last until the beginning of July.
