Nothing Phone (2) is coming in 2023, we know this
The CEO of Nothing has indicated that the company will launch a new premium smartphone this year. The telephone will be the successor to the Phone (1) and will have to take a major step, mainly in the field of software.

Premium for an accessible price
The English tech company Nothing introduced its first smartphone last year. The Phone (1) focuses, among other things, on the design and must give a premium feeling for an accessible price in terms of user experience. The device does this, for example, with its luxurious glass and aluminum housing and the special transparent back with 900 LED lights. In my review I said the following about the Phone (1):
With its striking, beautiful and luxurious design, excellent battery life, basic software, excellent performance and decent cameras, the device scores very well. I really have the feeling, apart from the camera and the still small errors in the software, that I have a high-end smartphone in my pocket.

Errors in the software
As you can read above, I was not entirely satisfied with the software of the Phone (1) in my review. Despite the fact that Nothing uses a nice clean Android shell, there were – and still are – bugs in the software.
Some bugs have been fixed, but not every problem. By far the most irritating error we ourselves encounter is saving and taking photos. As soon as you digitally zoom in, the Phone (1) sometimes does not want to take a photo and it also happens regularly that the device has not saved a photo that has been taken.
Phone (2) comes with solutions
According to Carl Pei, CEO and co-founder of Nothing, the Phone (2) will take big steps in the field of software. He says the following to Inverse, among other things:
“When we started with the Phone (1), we only had about five engineers on our mobile team. A lot of the work had to be done by other companies. Right now our software team is almost 100 people and I brought in a lot of people with whom I previously worked with in my past life.”
The Phone (2) is yet to appear this year and it would be higher quality than its predecessor. Carl Pei does not clarify in what way that will be. “We are developing a smartphone that is more premium than the Nothing Phone (1) and software will be a major focus for us.” As soon as we know more about the Nothing Phone (2), we will of course share this on our website and in our app.
