No more WhatsApp messages on your Fitbit? That’s how you solve it

Receiving WhatsApp messages on your Fitbit is no problem with the latest models, provided you have set everything up correctly, of course. But even if you have set everything up correctly, it sometimes happens that the notifications suddenly stop coming through. Sounds familiar? Here you can read how to solve this.

Read on after the ad.

WhatsApp notifications on your Fitbit

When you purchase and install a new Fitbit, everything generally works like a charm. You wear it to bed and during sports, you operate Spotify with it and your WhatsApp notifications appear neatly on the smartwatch.

Yet it happens relatively often that those WhatsApp messages on your Fitbit suddenly no longer appear. And since all other functions seem to work, it’s likely that you’ll be looking for the solution in your Fitbit’s settings. But that is in vain.

Share system notifications

Fortunately, the solution is not too difficult. We’ll show you what steps to take:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone;
  2. Tap “Bluetooth” and then the “i” after your Fitbit’s name;
  3. Toggle Share System Notifications off and then back on.

In many cases, this has already solved the problem. If you’re still not receiving WhatsApp notifications on your Fitbit, or if you don’t see the “Share system notifications” option, there are a few more steps you need to take:

  1. Restart your Fitbit;
  2. If asked if you want your Fitbit to show notifications, tap “Allow”;
  3. Now enable the option ‘Share system notifications’.

Check other settings on iPhone

In principle, the following settings on your iPhone should already be correct, but it is good to check them anyway:

  1. Open the Settings app;
  2. Tap on ‘Notifications’;
  3. Make sure the ‘Show preview’ option is set to ‘Always’ or ‘When unlocked’.

The last step is to check a few settings specific to WhatsApp:

  1. Open the Settings app;
  2. Tap on ‘Notifications’;
  3. Scroll down and tap ‘WhatsApp’;
  4. Make sure “Allow Notifications” is turned on;
  5. Make sure ‘Show preview’ is set to ‘Always’ or ‘When unlocked’.

You can repeat these last steps for all apps from which you want to receive notifications. Your WhatsApp notifications should now reappear on your Fitbit.
