Nicolette Kluijver: ‘My greatest wish in life is to become a grandmother’

My children have now realized that life as a mother can sometimes be a bit on the heavy side, if I am toiling again on a healthy meal while I am packing the bags for school and also calling the swimming club to make sure that C – diploma to finally schedule.

diploma

About that swimming diploma: I have actually earned a diploma in the meantime after all those hours at the pool, with a wind chill of 50 degrees, to see how my frogs manage to get their A and B diplomas together. And why do I put on a turtleneck sweater every Wednesday and forget that we have to go to swimming lessons that afternoon? Standing by the side, sweating, cheering them on… Actually, those swimming diplomas are a torment, and not just for the kids.

Just like a hotel

My children sometimes ask me: “Mommy, is it nice to be a mommy?” I think being a mom is the best thing there is. I am so proud to be a mom. But is it heavy? Yes for sure. My mother used to say to me: “It’s not a hotel here!” Well, that’s about it with us. The laundry and ironing service is available at Hotel Kluijver throughout the day. The bar and restaurant are open 24/7. Packed lunches are included in the stay and the taxi service is available at all times, even the inconvenient ones. And I do it with love.

My greatest wish in life is to become a grandmother. The grandmother of my kids’ kids. And also for them the hotel will be open with 24/7 service. Being a mom is hard at times, but it’s the best thing that ever happened to me.
