Next year a new Mate and foldable Huawei
Huawei has held back for a while, partly due to the US ban, but it plans to make a phone comeback in 2022. A top executive would have said to the Romanian Adevarul that Harmony OS will come to Europe in 2022.
Harmony OS
Adevarul asked Derek Yu of Huawei about Huawei Nova 9. Why did that phone have Android 11 and no Harmony OS? His answer was that Harmony OS is coming to Europe in 2022. Not quite the answer to the question, but a very newsworthy answer. In addition, a new Mate and a new foldable Huawei smartphone would be released in the new year.
Especially that there will be another Mate is great news, because Huawei had him skip a year in 2021. Although it is not clear whether the device will only appear in China or worldwide. Partly because of this, some people have thought that Huawei would get out of the smartphone business completely, but it appears to be making a kind of comeback in 2022. The ban on Huawei from the United States is still in effect: American companies are banned from doing business with the Chinese Huawei, which also prevents it from working with Google for Android.
Huawei P50
Huawei says the Harmony OS has been in development for some time, but it must have gained momentum due to the ban. Initially, Harmony OS was released in China, but that will change in 2022 when it also comes to the West. At least, when it comes to smartphones, because the tablet MatePad Pro has appeared worldwide.
In any case, 2022 promises to be an interesting year for Huawei smartphone enthusiasts. The P50 series will also appear that year. And although the Mate X2 has never reached our region, a foldable device will also come to Europe in 2021. We will probably hear more about this during the Mobile World Congress, which takes place at the end of February.
