New Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 not up to date?

Ultimate Ears is known for its affordable portable speaker at an entry-level price. The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 is the latest version.

Most striking is the design and the colours. We are also used to Ultimate Ears of course. This time the Wonderboom 3 is presented in cool grey, pink, blue and black.

Not up to date

At first glance, we see little difference with the Wonderboom 2. Not in terms of design, but also not in terms of charging port. The 360-degree speaker is equipped with a micro-USB connection. In 2022 a bit incomprehensible. Certainly for the European market, where USB-C will be mandatory from 2024 on a portable speaker like this one and we can no longer call USB-C really new. Missed opportunity.

Improvements

Partly because of that outdated gate, we see few external changes. Fortunately, there is news underneath. The UE Wonderboom 3 is more sustainable than its predecessor with at least 31 percent recycled plastic. In addition, the Bluetooth range has been increased by a third to about 40 meters. The battery lasts an hour longer and now pumps the music out of the compact speaker for up to 14 hours.

Waterproof

As before, you can connect two speakers together for stereo sound. Not unimportant for the popularity of the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom is the IP67 rating. That means water, dirt and dust resistant.

That even means waterproof in the shower and drop-proof if you drop it there. The Wonderboom 3 loudspeaker also meets this requirement. That the brand sticks to this is also wise, because one of the most appreciated USPs of the bluetooth speaker.

So no earth-shattering updates, but never change a winning team. So modest improvements of a successful portable waterproof bluetooth speaker with a top sound. Available from August 31 for under a hundred euros.
