New technology from Xiaomi increases battery capacity by 10%

There are regular reports on the Internet about the development of new technologies that promise the arrival of better batteries in smartphones, but they seldom actually prevail or bring the expected results. However, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has now introduced a novelty which, unlike most, has the potential to actually change the batteries in smartphones for the better.

According to the Android Police portal, the new technology promises up to a 10% increase in battery capacity without the need to use a larger unit. The manufacturer even claims that it will start producing new batteries next year.

Xiaomi achieved an increase in capacity by reducing control circuits and densifying the silicon content. Simply put, a smaller battery will hold more power. This means that, for example, a smartphone with a 4,000 mAh battery could in the future have a battery with a capacity of 4,400 mAh without being coarser, larger, heavier or depleted of certain functions.

In addition, the technology will improve battery life with built-in support for intelligent night charging. Many smartphones today can optimize charging so that the battery reaches 100% just before you wake up. In this way, manufacturers can reduce unnecessary battery wear. But while it is currently a software optimization, Xiaomi wants to incorporate this feature directly into the battery. The new technology will also improve the safety of battery use, for example, the new ability of the battery to manage its own temperature and prevent overheating.
