Calendar and calendar apps come in many shapes and sizes for Android. The offer is now being expanded thanks to the developers of Proton. In addition to ProtonMail, the company comes with its own Proton Calendar app.

The Swiss company Proton is best known for the secure mail service ProtonMail. With this, messages are sent encrypted, which ensures a much higher privacy. The developers of the mail service have now released a new application for Android that allows you to keep track of your agenda; Proton Calendar; an alternative to Google Calendar. Of course, another app where privacy and (online) security are of paramount importance.

Proton Calendar is a free calendar app that has been widely tested in recent times. The application uses encryption where all details such as the name of the agenda item, the participants and things like the location are all encrypted. You can choose from a light or dark theme, place a widget on your home screen and add multiple notification settings. In Proton Calendar you can switch to the day or month view and to the agenda overview.

If you want to switch from your well-known calendar app to Proton Calendar, this can be made easy for yourself in various ways. You can manually load local calendar files (so-called .ics files) into the app. It is also possible to import an existing calendar into Proton Calendar. To do this, log in with your ProtonMail account.
