New malware on Android can steal credentials from banking apps
A new kind of malware is circulating on Android devices. The so-called ERMAC 2.0 malware can in the worst case access your bank details, with all the consequences that entails.

Security firms ESET and the Cyble have stumbled upon a new malware circulating for Android. It is malware known as ERMAC 2.0 and it tries to access the credentials of banking apps. It is a well-known way with the malware’s working method. Victims are ‘asked’ to download a counterfeit app and install it on their Android device.
The installed malware gains access to credentials for the banking app. It does this by appropriating itself 43 rights. Malicious persons would hire the malware for about $5,000 a month, the security company reports. So far, mainly Polish users have been the main target of the attacks. The malware also has access to text messages and calls can also be made to numbers. Passwords for crypto wallets and other information are also among the data that are requested.
