New MacBook Pro coming early 2023
The new MacBook Pro is expected to hit the market early next year. This is what the usually reliable Apple analyst Mark Gurman predicts. Apple will release the new MacBook Pro again in a 14- and 16-inch version. However, it seems that Apple is not going to introduce any major changes. We put the expectations together for you.
Biggest Change: New M2 chips
The biggest change: the new models will be equipped with the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. This still unannounced (but much more powerful) M2 Pro chip is said to charge at a speed of 67 watts, while the cheaper M2 model ‘only’ supports a 35 watt charger. The new MacBook Pro will therefore be even faster and more powerful than its predecessor.
These new chips are especially good news for professional users who use their MacBook for video editing or coding, for example. After all, the new M2 chips are more powerful, so that heavy tasks such as video editing run more smoothly on the laptop.

Little change expected for the new MacBook Pro
Apple does not seem to tinker much with the machines. According to Gurman, the overall design and features of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro will “probably remain about the same.” Last year, the MacBook Pro changed significantly with a new design, MagSafe connection, a beautiful mini-LED screen and an improved webcam.
It is expected that Apple will give the working memory of the new MacBook Pro a (small) upgrade. According to Gurman, more and faster RAM will come to the new versions of the MacBook Pro.
Already in development at Apple: iMac with M3 chip
According to Gurman, Apple has already started work on the successor to the iMac. The iMac would immediately receive an M3 chip, the iMac with an M2 chip is reportedly skipped. Unfortunately, it seems that you will also have to be patient for the iMac with an M3 chip. According to rumors, this fast iMac will not arrive until the end of 2023.
The standard M2 chip has a CPU with 8 cores (just like the M1), with some minor improvements. Some adjustments have been made to the GPU cores, because it now has nine or ten GPU cores instead of seven or eight GPU cores. So it remains to be seen what the M3 chip will have in store.
