New Google Pixel 8 leak shows improved charging speed
Another weekend, another Google Pixel 8 leak. This time, more has become known about the charging speed of the device, as well as the battery size. It is information that is very positive: it all gets better for both the regular 8 and the 8 Pro.
Load faster
According to Android Authority, charging speeds will increase to 24 Watts on Pixel 8 and 27 Watts on Pixel 8 Pro, up from 20 and 23 Watts previously. For wireless charging, the charging speed remains the same (12 Watt). So it is still not ultra-fast charging what you can do with Pixel, which is a shame because there is a lot to be gained in that area, but an upgrade is appreciated.
Then there is also news about the size of the battery of both devices. Pixel 8 Pro is said to go from 4,926mAh to 4,950mAh, while the regular one goes from 4,270mAh to 4,485mAh. None of these are earth-shattering improvements, but again: it is an improvement. Hopefully we will notice that too, possibly in combination with some software tweaks.

Thanks to the arrival of the new Tensor 3 chip from Google, the phones also receive support for WiFi 7. The Pixel 8 Pro also comes with UWB, Ultra Wideband. This technology can measure the distance to other devices via radio waves and works very accurately and at a very short distance. A very specific location determination. Handy for indoor navigation and for quickly transferring files.
And: good news for our Belgian neighbours: Pixel now also seems to be officially released in that country, as well as in Austria, Switzerland and Portugal. It is nice to see that the previous expansion of countries (including the Netherlands) has proved successful.
When Google presents Pixel 8, that is still unknown: probably sometime in the fall. If you want to know more about all the rumors doing the rounds about Pixel 8, read our Pixel 8 page.
