New Forza Motorsport coming to old Xbox One, right?
The latest Forza Motorsport should be the showpiece of the new Xbox consoles, but now it seems that you can also play the upcoming racing game on an old Xbox One.
There is a time to come and a time to go. For the ‘previous’ generation Xbox and PlayStation (One and 4) it is now time to go. The successors have been out for a while now and so it’s time for game makers to take their games to the next level with the new capabilities of the upgraded hardware.
Forza Motorsport next gen
Turn 10 Studios, part of Xbox Game Studios, knows all about that. When the Xbox One came out in 2013, Forza Motorsport 5 followed almost immediately, the first Forza game that was exclusively available for the Xbox One and would therefore no longer work on the Xbox 360. That showed how graphically advanced Forza could be in 2013. We’re about to experience a similar revolution: the first all-new Forza Motorsport game since the Xbox Series X came out is just around the corner.
Still on old Xbox?
This game, which will simply be called Forza Motorsport, runs on a completely new engine. So it will be a revolution for the first time in many years. Then of course you want to make optimal use of the latest hardware. However, the fork now appears to be different. A (verified) post on Reddit’s r/GamingLeaksandRumors gives us an idea of an early Forza build. The images apparently come from July 2021. We see a garage with some cars and it all seems to have many rough edges, but more importantly, the images were apparently made on an Xbox One. The Redditor who shared this footage added: “I’m tired of everyone yelling that Forza Motorsport is just for Next Gen, here’s a picture of last year’s Xbox One version.”
So if you are desperately looking for a new Xbox to play the new Forza Motorsport, wait a little longer. More info about the new game will be confirmed soon, so it could be confirmed that you can also play the game on Xbox One. It used to happen that a Forza game can be played on two platforms: Forza Horizon 2 from 2012 was first released on the Xbox 360 before a much improved version (better graphics, larger playing field) came out for the Xbox One. The current latest game Forza Horizon 5 also dangles between the One and Series, although the differences for Horizon 5 are limited to the graphics options. Whether the new Forza Motorsport will be the full game for Xbox One: that remains to be seen.
