In terms of play, GTA Online and Assassin’s Creed have little in common, of course, but Ubisoft is also planning the latest project called Infinity a live service game from their single player series. After a Report from the Bloomberg website by the well-known video game journalist Jason Schreier the existence of Assassin’s Creed Infinity revealed, followed a short time later official announcement by the publisher.
An Assassin’s Creed with an online platform
Assassin’s Creed Infinity is created by the two Ubisoft studios in Montreal and QuebecThe publisher did not want to reveal more about the new project, and the live service aspect also remains without concrete confirmation. According to Bloomberg, Infinity will be one Online platform, those who different settings of the games linked to each other, expand them later and also add new settings. Ubisoft is thus following the classic “Games as a Service” to provide a game with new content for years to come and to keep fans and their wallets happy.
According to Ubisoft, the project is still in the early stages of development and there are currently more content pending for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. According to Bloomberg, Ubisoft has joined Let the successes and longevity of GTA Online and Fortnite inspire the decisionto turn the Assassin’s Creed franchise into a service game as well.
Sexism problem persists
The two studios involved in Infinity are still working serious incidents of sexism and sexual abuse and, according to Bloomberg, with moderate success. In the past year there have been various allegations against members of the management of Ubisoft of inappropriate behavior and sexual abuse.
According to the Bloomberg report, there are many cases still not cleared up and the accused managers remain in the company. Last month there were reportedly three more managers reported to the again inactive HR department for “harassment and toxic behavior,” according to Bloomberg sources.
Assassin’s Creed Infinity sounds like a lot ambitious project and it remains to be seen whether the working atmosphere presented by Bloomberg is up to such a project. In addition, Ubisoft will have to come up with something to sell the rather unpopular concept “Games as a Service”. After all, there are now enough positive examples.
