Netflix VPN war also affects innocents
Be careful what you shoot, there are also innocents walking through the field. We are talking about the active Netflix VPN war.
The American range of Netflix is a blow larger compared to the library in other countries, including the Netherlands. With a VPN it is often possible to access the alternative offer. That’s because a VPN can mimic another, in this case US, virtual location. Netflix isn’t happy about that at all.
Netflix has therefore devised a system that in some cases realizes that you are watching on a VPN. You simply do not get to see the offer you had hoped for. But Netflix’s war on VPNs sometimes affects innocents, too. There is a thread on Reddit, among others, where people complain about a meager offer on the American streaming service.
Netflix blocks some IP addresses linked to a particular VPN server. If you happen to use it, the streaming service may mistakenly think that you are on a VPN. The streaming service advises you to contact your internet provider if you are bothered by this. If we are to believe the thread on Reddit, this is a serious problem for some.
