Netflix turns ‘Redwall’ fantasy books into a movie and series

Netflix can’t get enough of animation and fantasy. The streaming service is turning the Redwall books into a film and series this time.

Game of Thrones was, of course, a ridiculous success. A pity for Netflix, because the series was played by the competitor HBO. That’s why, according to Variety, the streaming service is now trying with the fantasy books of Brian Jacques, author of the Redwall books. In any case, the books were a success, 30 million copies have been sold. Not surprisingly, these books resemble the fantasy series that were popular in recent years. In any case, the atmosphere with moles, mice and rabbits living in Redwall Abbey.

The story is about an abbey inhabited by peaceful forest creatures and encompasses a deep mythology surrounding a warrior’s mouse named Martin, who helps protect the abbey from invading vermin. Netflix now has all the rights to the Redwall fantasy books so that we will soon be able to enjoy the stories, but on screen.

Animation

For the animation fans among us, Netflix has asked Patrick McHale to make a movie based on the first Redwall book. We know Patrick from Cartoon Network’s ‘Over the Garden Wall’ which was pretty spooky.

In addition, there is also a TV series called Martin the Warrior. This series is about a mouse whose legendary adventures will later inspire the residents of Redwall. The Redwall books provide opportunities for creators to create more fantasy movies that are suitable for families. And why not make TV shows? The possibilities are almost limitless with this title.

It would be worth something if Netflix realizes that many viewers appreciate the traditional animation, in a new guise and up to date, but without throwing the traditions overboard.

Proud of Redwall fantasy books

Brian often told his stories to young audiences. He traveled all over the world for this, according to a representative of The Redwall Abbey Company. He wrote and published 22 books, so there is plenty of inspiration for the film and series. The writer passed away in 2011. “Brian would have been delighted to see Netflix share his joy and desire to bring his stories to life as a new universe of movies, series and potentially more for viewers of all ages.” Well, that’s nice. In any case, we are looking forward to the production of the Redwall fantasy books by Netflix.
