Tesla van for passengers has been in the planning for some time
Back in 2016, Musk mentioned in Part two of his master planthat Tesla doesn’t just want to focus on personal vehicles, but also needs two other types of electric vehicles: heavy-duty trucks and high-density commuter vehicles. Also in the third edition Were these plans still up to date?
While the Tesla Semi Truck finally rolled onto the streets in December 2022 after years of delay, the passenger vehicle was still a long time coming – until now. However, there have been talks in the past that Tesla could build a van-like passenger car for Musk’s Boring Company.
New vehicle could be Hyperloop shuttle
That from Jacob Orth The video released from Las Vegas shows a kind of shuttle bus with space for about eleven people. He resembles a vehicle featured in a previously released rendering of hyperloopproject is included. There you can see a kind of van with rows of seats and glass windows that can carry passengers inside.
The recipients therefore assume that the video is about a prototype for just that passenger van. Musk’s tunneling company is currently still using the Tesla Model X and Y for the Hyperloop under Las Vegas.
Tesla van: prototype appears to be real
The steering wheel of the van suggests that the new prototype could really be a Tesla product. That’s where the company logo is. If the vehicle is actually a passenger shuttle, it is likely to be a very early model.
However, it is difficult to see from the video how many people will actually find space in it. It is also not easy to tell whether the van has wheels. It is not yet clear how Jacob Orth got hold of this recording. So far there has been no official statement from Elon Musk, Tesla or the Boring Company about the video.
