My favorite Apple accessory costs only 39 euros
You only know afterwards which was the best Apple product of the last few months or years. More than a year after the purchase, I have decided on my personal favourite.
Great new gadgets from Apple? The first things that come to mind are iPhone 13 and 14, HomePod mini, Watch Ultra or the many laptops and tablets with M1 and M2 chips. They let Cupertino fans pull out their wallets straight away – if they can find them.
Apple AirTag: Inexpensive and useful
I lose my wallet regularly. So not in the sense of “dropped on the street, PANIC!”, but rather: “maybe it’s still in the car, maybe it’s in the kitchen.” It was never the end of the world, but it is one of those little everyday problems, time cost when you have the least.
Of course, like so many things in life, this can also be solved with iron-hard discipline, so that you don’t have to keep misplacing your wallet. As a person who believes in technology, I made it even easier for myself and spontaneously bought one last summer AirTag bought, which has since had its permanent place in the coin compartment together with a “shopping cart euro”.
At the launch in April 2021, I found the basic idea interesting: A small tracker that fits perfectly into the “Where is?” app (iOS and macOS) is integrated – for a manageable 39 euros (RRP), in the meantime much cheaper in stores, for example at Amazon for 33 euros. According to the manufacturer, the replaceable button cell (CR2032) lasts “over a year”. I’ve probably already reached this period, but my AirTag hasn’t reported a low energy level yet.
In fact, I only used the AirTag a few times when I was too lazy to look for my wallet (“In my coat pocket or in my backpack?”). But it was definitely worth the handful of bets. It even does right funto go hunting with the “radar” on the iPhone display. Conclusion: For me personally the somewhat surprising “best purchase of the last few years”. If I had to criticize something, it would be her size. Yes, the Airtag is already extremely compact – but it would be a little flatter or variants in other formats, that would be desirable.
