‘My ex can’t resist making ambiguous comments’

An ex who scolds you about a younger look or makes very inappropriate comments in front of your new fling. It’s not that easy: that time after the divorce.

Jolanda (36), mother of Rico (11) and Joram (11):

“’Does she suck so well with you?’ when I was just putting away the vacuum cleaner. Or something like: ‘If your button is loose, Jolanda is a good sewer, but you probably already know that.’

In the beginning of my relationship with Ewoud, my ex couldn’t resist making ambiguous comments whenever he saw us together. Rick was clearly anguished and made it known by reminding me of our old sex life every time he came to pick up the kids. It wasn’t until I gently let him know that I found his so-called humorous remarks a lot less funny that it stopped.

Although, Rick sometimes falls back into his old habit: ‘Gosh Jolanda, you used to get wetter from me than from such a rain shower’, he recently shouted when I came from outside. Then I just pretend I didn’t hear it.”

We’ll laugh about it later

Lidewij (39) mother of Bente (7), Liv (6) and Tyler (4):

“The vow ’till death do us part’ has remained, even after our divorce last year. Although my ex and I are no longer partners, we will remain parents of Bente, Liv and Tyler until our death. And hopefully later we will play the role of grandpa and grandma together.

“We seem to be super nice to and with the children”

No matter how much we’re puking each other out now – my ex-husband thinks I’m a bitch who picks him bald, I him an egoist who doesn’t care about his kids and spends all his money on his 22-year-old hopping pussy – we’ll still have to hang out with each other. We seem to be super nice to and with the children.

But oh, how he gloats about my increased kilos (“You’re doing well on chips, I see”) and my comments about his younger look (“Do you have a French test tomorrow?”) are false. Oh well, we’ll laugh about it later, I sometimes think.”
