movies and series, all the news to watch this weekend
Disney + offers new content on its platform every Friday. For this weekend, we offer you a small selection of the best novelties from the Disney + catalog. All to your sofas, let’s go!
Just like Netflix, Friday is a sign of new things on Disney +! While the Disney platform now has more than 73 million subscribers, its catalog continues to grow. In addition, the firm with big ears can congratulate itself. Its flagship series The Mandalorian was nominated 15 times at the Emmy Awards and becomes Disney + ‘s biggest hit.
From this January 1, 2021, the most downloaded application in France begins the new year as it should with the arrival of Eragon, a more or less successful adaptation of a fantasy novel. In this feature film, young Eragon gets his hands on a strange blue stone, which is nothing but a dragon’s egg, mythical and overpowered creatures that have been missing for centuries, until now.
Of course, and if you still haven’t, you can always jump into Season 2 of The Mandalorian. Fans of the Star Wars series led by Jon Favreau, director of the live-action remakes of The Lion King and The Jungle Book, now know the end of the adventures of the bounty hunter and baby Yoda (not called like that, actually). And if you want to know exactly what to expect, read our feature dedicated to Season 2 of The Mandalorian.
Among the other additions of this first week of 2021, we note Our Opposite Stars, a particularly moving film about friendship, disease, love and hope. Looking with a packet of tissues nearby, you will have been warned.

The best of Disney + novelties
Eragon
Eragon is one of his films that have tried on the wave of Lord of the Rings and other Narnia. The result is far from equaling the two previously mentioned sagas, but this adventure film for teenagers will keep you busy on a Sunday afternoon. The prestigious cast comes to save Eragon from disaster with big names in cinema like Jeremy Irons, Robert Carlyle or John Malkovich.
Our opposite stars
Another adaptation of a novel, Our Opposite Stars tells the story of Hazel Grace and Gus, two teenagers who fell in love during a support group for cancer patients. Despite their illness, the two teenagers will believe in life and Gus will do everything to make Hazel Grace’s dream come true: to go to Amsterdam to meet his favorite author.
Explore Out
In the short film Out, Pixar tells the story of Greg and his somewhat rowdy little dog named Jim. By a curious coincidence, Greg will find himself trapped in the skin of his animal. This adventure will make him understand that he no longer has to hide this heavy secret, which has spoiled his life for years. Man will eventually accept himself as he is. A wonderful story about homosexuality, and the first time Pixar has taken up this theme.
