Motorola launches new clamshell devices Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra
Phone brand Motorola has launched its new folding phones Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra. The Razr 40 Ultra in particular stands out thanks to its large cover screen on which app makers have specially adapted their apps. And its color: it is also available in the striking red color Viva Magenta.

Razr 40 Ultra
Razr 40 Ultra therefore has that special 3.6 inch pOLED screen on the front with its refresh rates of 144 Hz. A screen on which you can actually do a lot for which you would normally open the phone. Spotify, Netflix and many other companies have specially created apps and games (Gold Adventures and Marble Mayhem, for example) that fit perfectly on that small, square screen. You can also choose six different panels (a kind of icons) that can be seen on that cover screen so that you can quickly reach the apps you often use, in addition to being kept informed of news, weather, messages on that screen. , and so forth. Google Wallet and Google Maps have also been specially adapted for this screen, so that you can also use the phone as a small navigation screen on the bike, instead of having to open your entire phone and use it. In addition, there are all kinds of live wallpapers to choose from.

It is a nice square screen that just continues around the cameras. The main camera of the Ultra is slightly less megapixel: Ultra does it with a 12 megapixel camera, while on the Razr 40 it is 64 megapixels. Both have a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens on the back that can also take macro photos. The selfie cameras are the same: 32 megapixels. The stainless steel hinge allows the device to be held in many different ways or set up like a tent to take good selfies and other content.
The smartphone has a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 engine on the inside. It is equipped with Dolby Atmos for a richer sound, plus two stereo speakers. The 3,800 mAh battery supports 30 Watt fast charging and 5 Watt wireless charging: Motorola promises that you can go ahead for hours with a few minutes of charging.
Price and availability
Razr 40 Ultra appears in Infinite Black, Viva Magenta and Glacier Blue colors. It has a suggested retail price of 1,199.99 euros and will appear in stores next Monday, June 5: only in the 256 GB variant.
Razor 40
In addition to the Ultra, there is also the Razr 40, as we just wrote in the camera comparison. Razr 40, according to Motorola, is really for trendsetters who want to stand out. What strikes us most is that it doesn’t come in black, which is traditionally a kind of flip phone ‘color’ that Motorola has made quite their own. Instead, it comes in Sage Green, Vanilla Cream, Summer Lilac, and Grape Compote colors. The screen on the cover is considerably smaller than that of the Razr 40 Ultra: it is smaller than half of the top and no special apps have been made for it either: it is really intended for fairly minimalist notifications.
Both smartphones are equipped with security programs such as ThinkShield, Moto Secure and Moto KeySafe. In terms of update policy, both devices have 3 Android upgrades and 4 years of security updates.
And as another small side announcement, Motorola has announced that the previously released Motorola Edge 40 will now also appear in Viva Magenta: the Pantone color of 2023.
Price and availability
Motorola Razr 40 is available for a suggested retail price of EUR 899.99: also in stores from next Monday, only in the 256 GB variant.
Motorola Edge 40 Viva Magenta is available from today for 599.99 euros.
