Motorola Edge 20 Series

The new generation of the Edge range is just around the corner. This time it concerns cheaper devices that do not want to compromise when it comes to specifications. They are the Edge 20, the Edge 20 Pro and Edge 20 Lite. Striking is the camera setup of the Edge 20 Pro, with the 108MP main camera and Motorola’s first periscope-style zoom that brings you 50 times closer to your subject. Let’s first look at the display of the Motorola Edge 20 Pro, a 6.7-inch OLED panel that comes with 10-bit colors and support for the wider DCI-P3 color spectrum. The screen also works with HDR10+ content. Also special is the high refresh rate of 144 Hz, which should make animations smoother. The fingerprint scanner is also located under the screen.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 870

The Edge 20 Pro comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 processor, which is basically an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 888. The chipset also comes with a 5G modem, and can count on 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The battery is a 4500 mAh one that comes with a 30 watt fast charger in the box.

Motorola also shares more about the software. the device will be launched with Andorid 11 and the brand’s own My UX shell. We are also already told that users of all devices in the series can expect at least two major version updates and two years of security updates.

The Edge devices come with typical Motorola features such as ‘Quick Capture’, ‘Three-finger screenshot’ or ‘Pick up to mute’. You can also choose from one of the customizations of icon shapes, color schemes, and display fonts to suit your style. All Motorola Edge devices are optimized for one-handed use. 108MP and 5x zoom

This time, Motorola is putting a strong focus on camera performance. The main camera is a 108 MP camera, which is a large sensor with a 1/1.5 inch sensor size that combines 9 pixels into one. The second camera, a 16 MP one, takes wide-angle photos and doubles as a macro camera. Finally, there is an 8 MP periscope camera, good for 5x optical zoom. It also has 50x digital zoom.

Filming and camera functions

The main camera of the Edge 20 Pro can also film in an 8k resolution and the ‘super slow motion’ function takes 960 frames per second. Motorola also thinks about the quality of the sound during recordings, because thanks to ‘Audiozoom’ the microphones can collect the sound from the place you point the camera at.

Another interesting camera feature is the Low Light AI for selfies. after taking a selfie in difficult lighting conditions with the 32 MP front camera, the image is automatically optimized. The camera app also has a ‘Dual Capture’ function that allows the selfie camera and main camera to film or photograph at the same time.

Motorola Edge 20

The regular Edge 20 retains the 6.7-inch OLED screen with the 144 HZ refresh rate, and part of the camera setup also remains on this phone. It concerns the 108 MP camera and the wide-angle camera. The phone does use a simpler telephoto camera, good for 30x digital zoom.

In terms of performance, Motorola opted for a mid-range chipset: the Snapdragon 778G. It is paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Furthermore, this phone comes with a 4000 mAh battery and a TurboPower 30 charger. After 10 minutes of charging, you can continue for 8 hours according to Motorola.

Motorola Edge 20 Lite

The Lite version also retains the main features of this range of phones: the 6.7-inch OLED screen and the 108 MP main camera. The device also comes with 5G, but it works with a chipset from MediaTek, the Dimensity 720 5G. The battery is also larger than with its brothers, because it is a 5000 mAh battery. According to Motorola, the Lite variant can last for two days on a single charge. The device comes with the same charger.
