most readers want removable batteries back
If there is something that makes phones less ‘tenable’, it is the updates when it comes to software, but when we talk about hardware, it is often due to the battery that the phone stops working properly at some point. The EU wants batteries to be replaceable, just like in the past. Our readers seem to agree with the EU on this. The poll shows that 79 percent are completely satisfied with the removable battery.
Removable battery is in demand
To this week’s poll question, namely whether you would like smartphones with a removable battery back, 79 percent answered positively. 15 percent do not like it, because there are also disadvantages to the removable batteries. 5 percent say they don’t know.
Arnoldd has a very good reason why he would like to be able to replace his battery himself: “I would like to see the replaceable battery again. The day before yesterday I got my Samsung S10E back after the battery (they call it a ‘film’) was replaced, after almost 2.5 years of very intensive use. That joke cost €108.49; the device was picked up and returned.”

GuyWar also wants it, but wonders whether the phone can remain waterproof. “In the distant past I had a few Motorola cell phones with removable batteries. Only then must the combination of touchscreen, water resistance and “design” be easy to combine.” That opinion is widely shared, many people find the water resistance of their smartphone very important.
Angelus230 is disappointed that he has lost his phone for a long time when a battery needs to be replaced. “I’ve had a Galaxy Note 4 for 5-6 years and the replaceable battery was the biggest advantage of the device. Now I have a OnePlus 8 Pro and when my battery wears out in a year or two I’ll have to send it in and who knows how long I’ll have to be without a phone.”
Replace your battery yourself
Good point: that is also something that the EU should be looking at, possibly together with manufacturers. The question is always whether you have lost your phone forever, what exactly it will cost, and so on. In short, very handy, such a battery that you can replace yourself.
Thanks again for this interesting insight, until the next AW Poll!
