In just 48 years, the world population has doubled from four to eight billion people. Since the population is not evenly distributed around the globe, we show you in our weekly ranking in which ten countries in the world most people live.
The world population increases by an average of two people per second. Extrapolated to a whole day, that’s more than 180,300 people. The online publisher visual capitalist has meanwhile examined the distribution of the population in a current analysis.

But although the world population is currently increasing steadily, it will probably increase in the future. A current forecast assumes that the population in 2064 will be at 9.7 billion people will lie and thus reaches its peak.
In particular, a massive reduction in the birth rate is said to be one of the reasons for this. In the following ranking, we show you the ten countries in which most people currently live.
10th place: Mexico
