Missing 3D emojis lead to disappointment
Months ago Microsoft promised a major redesign of its emojis. They should be three-dimensional. However, the new emojis in Windows 11 do not keep this promise.
Emojis are certainly not at the top of the list of reasons why Windows users might want to take their time upgrading to Windows 11. The fact that the three-dimensional pop-out emojis announced months ago are not included in the new version is still causing trouble.
The latest Windows 11 Insider build includes a new emoji design. To the disappointment of many users, the inside doesn’t look like the one originally shown when the operating system was introduced. The new emojis in Windows 11 are less colorful and flatter than the 3D emojis introduced earlier this year.
In the public version of the new OS version, the disappointingly flat emojis can only be seen when they are officially released. However, users of the insider version, which already has the new emojis, are disappointed.
In advance, Microsoft had apparently made a big stir around the 3D emojis announced for Windows 11. In particular, the decision to highlight the emojis instead of making them flat and two-dimensional was discussed.
However, there is no trace of 3D emojis and according to a tweet by Brandon LeBlanc, Senior Program Manager of the Windows Insider Program Team, they are unlikely to appear any time soon.
According to Gizmodo It is assumed that Microsoft is holding back the new 3D emojis for reasons of accessibility – they are apparently more difficult to recognize for people with visual impairments. In this case, it would be welcome that Microsoft wants to revise the design.
Until then, angry Windows 11 users can look forward to keeping another promise: Clippy, the annoying paper clip with the amazed / confused facial expression, is available in the new OS version as an emoji.
